An invitation

I have had this blog for some time.  Almost as soon as I started it, I realized that I only had a few stories for my own with regards to the supernatural.

I would like to extend an invitation to anyone that has a story to tell.

I'm not looking for fiction. I would like your first-hand account.

I'm interested in the following:

Contact with anyone or anything beyond what we consider "here and now."

UFO stuff

Healings and other miracles

Coincidences (I really like these)

You can post them as a comment or send them directly to me for posting as a main post.  My email is jim@shift-work.com.

A Review of the movie - Hereafter

People clapped when it ended.

I'm not sure why.

One of the opening scenes, the one in the trailer with the tsunami, is very impressive.

Additionally, I spent most of the movie being in love with the beautiful French woman.

However, I found that it was a little slow in places.  I understand the need to take your time when developing characters but this spent a little too much time.

This movie is food for fans of Eastwood (like me); fans of the subject matter (like me); fans of Matt Damon (like me) and fans of beautiful women (like me).  Still, it didn't quite work for me.  I think I may have been hoping for answers that weren't really forthcoming.

I give it 2.5 stars out of 4.

The Betty Book

Back in the 20's, it was very popular to have psychic parties where a Ouija board or some such thing was used.  Back then, there was a very popular writer named Stewart Edward White.  He was the Louis L'Amour. of the early 20th century.

One night, he and his wife, Elizabeth, went to one of these things and actually had some luck.  It seemed that Elizabeth was able to communicate with those on the "other side."

Over the next several years, he worked with his wife as they experimented with this new phenomena.  About the time of her death, he published the account of his and Elizabeth's experiences.  It's called The Betty Book.

He went on to write 3-4 more books on the subject.  I highly recommend all of them.

Adel Tinning

I have been a skeptic all my life when it comes to psychic phenomena.  Albeit, reluctantly so. I wanted to believe but I just never had clear enough evidence.  I needed to see it for myself.

Then in the mid 1980's, I came across Adel Tinning.

I wrote two blogs about my experience with her.  Rather than recreate those blogs here, I thought I would just post a link to them.

Here it is:  http://jimdillingham.blogspot.com/2010/03/psychic-phenomena-part-i.html

Beyond the Knowable

Have you ever had your fortune read?

What about coincidences?  According to Einstein, they are merely God's way of remaining anonymous.  I am in the mood to explore such things.  I have always been in the mood.

I am not sure when this started for me; possibly when I was very young.  My mother has always been interesting in psychic phenomena so I am sure she has had some influence here.

I have been to a couple of fortune tellers and such.  I have always done this with a fair share of skepticism although I have to admit, I wanted to believe.

It wasn't until I met with Adel Tinning in San Diego, back around 1985, that I became a believer.

By believer, I am not saying that I am "born again."  In fact, I have very little trust in organized religions and place those that run them in the same category as politicians.  By believer, I mean that I am certain that there is more to life, or better said, more "outside" of life than meets the eye.

The purpose of this blog is to explore the possibilities.  I want to write out what I am finding. Hopefully, some of you will join me and bring your own experiences to bear.
